An interesting piece in Foreign Policy from Chinese author and activist Yu Jie on his thought of heir apparent Xi Jinping. Most of what I've read about Xi centers on the tribulations surrounding his childhood, when his father was detained during the Cultural Revolution and his family fell into extreme poverty. These stories lend to the narrative that Xi will be the "Man of the People" that so many had hope Hu Jintao would be. A very interesting counterargument.
